You may have heard about counselling through friends or colleagues, or in the media, but do not really know what to expect from a counselling session. If you have an issue or problem which is affecting your everyday life and/or you find it difficult to cope on a daily basis, then it may help to talk to someone who is willing to listen objectively and who can help you explore ways of developing your strengths and resources. Talking through your issues at your own pace can sometimes help to make sense of all those mixed up thoughts and feelings and perhaps help you to see things from a different perspective. Counselling is also about learning to accept yourself, including the bits that you may not like very much.
Maybe you’re dissatisfied with certain aspects of your life but feel stuck and don’t know what to do about it? Counselling can help you to find ways of making changes which have a positive impact and also to accept those things which are beyond your control.

However, the only way to really find out if it’s going to work for you is to try it out. There is no substitute for experiencing being in the therapy room with a counsellor.
This depends on a number of factors:
- whether the issue is recent or longstanding
- how easy or difficult you find it to talk about
- the nature of the problem
During your first appointment, we will talk about the issues you want to focus on. This initial session gives us time to decide how we both feel about working together. Following our discussion, if you wish to book further sessions, you may choose to book per session, or in blocks of three.
I will not usually put a limit on the number of sessions, unless you request time-limited counselling, or if I feel that I am not able to offer the support you need with a specific issue, I will refer you to a more appropriate service, eg NHS or relevant organisation such as Relate.
A single session costs £55.00. Or book three sessions in advance at a reduced cost of £150.00
